the gust of wind
tattered her wings,
so she lay on the earth
and listened,
noticing the groundlessness.
the late afternoon rays of sun
revealed the shadows’ reach
from a different perspective.
there was a tiny sparkle
when the light reflected just right.
the glint was a seed.
a hope. a prayer.
a dose of delight.
a reminder life is always here,
even when she is not.
slowly unfurling,
she anchored,
shakily surrendering into uncertainty,
grief and gratitude reshaping her form
yet again.
it wasn’t graceful
and it was enough
to trust wholeness is here
in the re-membering of parts.
in the wellspring of the decomposition.
the wind blew the shimmer beyond
with a playful invitation.
will you dance?
will you come find me
once more?
